I think that Romeo's punishment is unfair because he had the right to kill Tybalt because Tybalt had no right to kill Mercutio. Clearly, he forgot that he wasn't supposed to kill anybody but he did the right thing. When Romeo killed Tybalt he wasn't supposed to do so,but since Tybalt killed Mercutio he deserved to die. Therefore, Romeo did the right thing so shouldn't he be rewarded? This punishment is unfair since Romeo did what he thought was right and he should be rewarded not banished. To continue, why should Romeo have to leave. "What is banished?" (act 3, Scene 1). The quote tells that Romeo is upset and he thinks that he did the right thing. Why should he have to leave? In conclusion, I think that Romeo's punishment should have been less harsh because he did the right thing.
