The few shades of Romeo. By Jake Barker

Jake Barker 11/9/13

Romeo is a depressed and love struck boy. Clearly he is not a fighter because in the beginning when the big fight was taking place between the Montagues and Capulets Romeo was never there. He then shows up after the fight alone with his head down and flowers in his hand. “See where he comes. So please step aside; I’ll know his grievance or be much denied.” (Shakespeare Act 1 Scene 1) This quote said by Benvolio Shows that everyone sees Romeo as depressed and that he is never happy. Consequently once Romeo finds true love “Juliet” he does nothing but love for one. “If I profane with my unworthiest hand this holy shrine, the gentle sin in this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.” (Act 1 Scene 5) Here Romeo this proofs that Romeo is love struck because as soon as he sees Juliet he wants to kiss and sure enough he does.
